Income Tax Time – Dues Receipts, T4s, etc

It’s that time of year again…

The deadline for filing your personal income tax is April 30, 2024.  Legally, all tax documentation has to be sent/available to you by February 29, 2024.

UNION DUES RECEIPTS

Dues/despatch fees paid in 2023 are tax deductible.  We will mail you a receipt stating how much you paid.  All receipts will be mailed by January 31, 2024.

Who pays dues/despatch fees:  Union, A, B, C, and T Board workers, as well as low board Casuals (T, OO, R) who are RWF (Regular Work Force).

BCMEA T4

This info is direct from the BCMEA:

  • If an employee accesses their pay statements on-line, that’s where they will find their T4.
  • All remaining T4s are mailed.
  • Address changes to be received by Monday, January 29 to make the T4 run.

INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF INCOME TAX DEDUCTED

If you owe Revenue Canada money after your taxes have been calculated, consider increasing the amount of tax taken off each week.

The Administration Office at the Despatch Hall has the TD1 form for you to fill out.

Near the bottom of page 2 you write in how much extra you want deducted ($10, $20, $55, $102… you decide).  A refund is nicer than owing the tax man.

You can also print off the attached form and take it to Despatch.
