We regret to inform that the Pensioners Picnic slated for July 20th has been cancelled due to fire restrictions implemented in all parks in the City of Vancouver.
The City would not issue a permit unless the following restrictions were agreed to:
- No barbequing (wood, coal or propane)
- No propane generators
- No Show & Shine cars on the grass
Because of these restrictions, we cannot provide any of our usual delicious barbequed chicken, salmon, or sausages, and we cannot power any bouncy castles for the kids or provide any hot or cold items (coffee, ice cream, pop).
We did search out other locations in surrounding municipalities but on this short notice we could not acquire a location suitable to our needs or our numbers.
With the changing climate in BC, the Committee will review the historical July picnic date.
