As Christmas Day, December 25, 2016, falls on a Sunday this year, and Boxing Day, December 26, 2016, falls on a Monday, the Local 500 office will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 26 & 27, 2016 in recognition of the stats.

As the office staff is provincially regulated the Local 500 administration office is closed on BC Family Day.s.

Family Day is not a recognized statutory holiday in the BCMEA/ILWU Collective Agreement.  It is a regular working day for Longshore workers as longshore work is federally regulated (this stat only applies to workers who fall under provincial regulation, like our staff).
