Staff Not Authorized to Advise

To the Members of ILWU Local 500

The Union Office Staff is not authorized to advise you on any of the issues that you may have with your life on the waterfront. They are employed to follow the direction of the Secretary Treasurer.

The Secretary Treasurer is responsible for the conduct of the Union Office Staff. It is the Secretary Treasurer’s direction to the Union Office Staff that they are not to provide information about any of the issues that you may have concerns about.

The Union Office Staff has been directed to advise Members asking questions to deal with the people responsible for these issues directly. For example:

• Casual Board Moves – the M&G on Friday after 10 a.m. or at the full M&G on the fourth Tuesday of the month between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Boardroom #1.
• Entitlements under the Health & Benefit Plan – Employee Services at 604-689-7184.
• Pensions – Pension Officer at 604-694-2310.
• Administration of the Collective Agreement – on duty Business Agent.
• Training – Local 500 Vice President Mike Rondpré.
• Discipline – Labour Relations Committee.
• Vacations – see bulletin on counter.
• Other questions – the Secretary Treasurer.

The Union Office Staff will cheerfully provide you with the contact numbers so that you can find out the information you require.

Please do not badger the Staff to give you information. They are prohibited from providing information that they are not authorized to dispense.
