Your Trustees have been hard at work negotiating a weekly indemnity COVID-19 Quarantine Benefit.
This benefit is paid out equivalent to EI benefits and is available to those workers with “A” Coverage (namely Union Members, A Board Casuals and lower board Casuals on the RWF [Regular Work Force]) who meet the hours requirement.
Please read the bulletin below and review the application form to see if this benefit is applicable to you.
The form should be fillable, which means you can type in your info directly into the form (you may have to download it first). If you have trouble filling it out on the screen, you can print it and fill it out. When done, please make sure to:
- email the completed form to WEBC at weeklyindemnity@webc.ca (pictures with your phone are ok if you can’t fill in the form on screen)
- phone the Local 500 office staff at 604-254-7131 to advise that you are applying for benefits
- make sure to call the office staff back when you are returning to work so that they can put in paperwork for the stats, etc. for you
If you had to quarantine but do not have “A” Benefit Coverage, you should apply for EI benefits through the Canada Emergency Response Benefit which you will be able to apply for in April. The attached bulletin shows the link for this.
