When loading operations are being performed:
- Make sure ship lines are tight and vessels are tight to the dock. Notify Foreman &/or Crew if lines are slack.
- When hatchcovers are open, locks must be in place to prevent them from closing or creeping. Notify the Foreman and Crew if locks are not in place.
- When loading under tarps through gaps between hatchcovers, locks or chains must be used to restrain hatchcovers. When there are no restraints (locks/chains), stop loading immediately. Take pipe or peco out of hatch and notify the Foreman. Start loading only when restraints are in place.
- Make sure cargo lights don’t make contact with equipment or cargo.
- Use proper procedures and gear when loading through feeder holes or with tarps.
