Working While Under Suspension

Working while under suspension is a violation of Local 500’s Despatch Rules. Automatic Penalties as passed at the October 18, 2006 Membership Meeting:

• 1st Offence $100 + the shift’s pay

• 2nd Offence $100 + 3 days off

• 3rd Offence $100 + 7 days off

• 4th Offence Conduct Detrimental to the Welfare of the Union

It is every Member and Casual’s responsibility to keep their account with the Union in Good Standing.

The Union posts a list of those suspended from all work under the Collective Agreement for non-payment of monies owed to the Union. This allows your coworkers to know that as of the effective date on the bulletin that you are not allowed to work. Unless you have a receipt from the Union Office that you have paid your outstanding fines they have the right to charge you for violating the Local 500 Despatch Rules. This applies to the RWF as much as it does to the people that work out of the Despatch Hall.

If you work while under suspension you are stealing work from your Sisters and Brothers.
